Ice Beech Center Piece, that holds Stainless Steel Shelves - counterparted with a Stained Concrete Column, splitted into three Parts.

Devoted to the intentional use, curation and finishing of unique and long lasting materials we created new collectible design objects, including this Ice Beech Sideboard. The main focus was on creating objects that both reshape and highlight the initial features of the certain material. For the main part of the sideboard we sourced a precious wood called Ice Beech (“Truffle Beech”), that has a characteristic dark/black swirling grain, due to unique ageing and its interaction with the surrounding. This structure is again referenced in a counterparted element of the object: Stained Concrete, that due to a unique finish resembles that natural and unique gradient/swirl in a modern and artificial way.

Material
Ice Beech ("Truffle Beech") is a type of Precious Woods with a characteristic grain, that can be described as dark/black swirling. The woods unique structure is caused by a rare interaction of a fungus and the subsequent stabilization of the wood, stopping the process of decay, that causes the blacked cobweb-like pattern and the overall brightening of the wood.
