Reworked antique Italian wood floors, recovered from old buildings in northern Italy - combined with brutalist concrete fragments: A clash of two worlds.
Rooted in our practice, we regularly create concrete objects, using our specialized reinforcement techniques. Inspired by unique materials and Japanese design principles we wanted to incorporate antique wood into our design, to add warmth and character. As a result this bench was brought to life, using fragments of antique Italian chestnut floors, giving them a new life, while also using their features to direct the design process of a modern counterpart, using uniquely shaped concrete.
